REPORT OF FCCA-INT MISSIONS CONFERENCE
What a blessed conference.
A major paradigm shift took place in Missions during the past ten years. South Africa has become the example of the greatest change in history.
In the past the whole concept on mission was that the missionary resigns his or her job, pack their goods and go to a foreign country to preach the Gospel to a people that never heard the Word.
A new field of mission work has developed: Millions of people from different countries in Africa moved to South Africa. The same mission action is now available to us right here in South Africa - without anyone leaving their homes.
I do not reject of criticize the missionaries that are currently working in a foreign country or will do so in the future, that is for our Almighty Father to decide where He wants to send his labourers.
I encourage people to reach out to people around them, in their immediate vicinity.
Acts 1:8 Jerusalem (Your home town), Judea (You province), Samaria (the province next door, rural area), the rest of the world.
What is it about going outside your country that is so attractive? Most missionaries have this indescribable desire to go to another country.
We have the same urgent need right here at home where our Messiah said we must start.
You only go to a foreign country on clear instruction of the Father.
For a start, begin in the closest squatter camp or your servant in your home or your neighbours. The physical as well as spiritual hunger is just as great there.
We have to teach them the Christian walk they have to walk, and it is not a walk in darkness and insecurity.
Ps. 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Theresa Bekker, one of our established and anointed missionaries, shared her experience in the field with us. She was called to go with a team to Mozambique and how the rip changed from excitement to discomfort to a real tough time. Her life changed dramatically. She didnt experienced job satisfaction. Studying various porfessions but was never happy in one of the areas. She resigned her job and went fulltime into the ministry,
Missions
Theresa is part of SOV Ministries (Strength of Victory) who has various branches.
She is pastoring the Kameeldrift and Buffelsdrift branches, facing many difficulties daily. The Nokeng municipality has informed them that an amount of R250 per Sunday is payable before using the Community Hall. Before July 2010 they held the Sunday service in the hall - free of charge.
At the moment they are having blessed services outside on flattened cardboard boxes. When the raining season comes - the problem will be sorted - God is the same, yesterday today and tomorrow!!!
During the week there are prayer meetings on various plots. The focus is on crime, poverty as well as HIV and aids. The aim is to win soles for Jesus and to assist irrespective of race in giving food parcels (if available) and clothes.
Theresa is currently involved on a plot where about 20 white families are staying - the poorest of the poor. Unfortunate people in these circumstances have fallen in to satan's addiction claws. Child molestations, alcohol and drug abuse, hatred and bitterness are on the order of the day. How bad is seems - they need love and acceptance, someone to talk to and bring things into perspective - some of them has lost hope. Very sad the children are the one who suffers most. At the age of three years they are on Ritalin which is a drug to calms the nerve system.
"I really jump with joy if it comes to the ministry. I stand in awe to see miracles taking place and people's lives turn around."
All the glory to God!! - HE HEALS AND RESTORS.
The Challenge
You and I are part of the great commission if you want to or not - we are
You can run but you can't hide, we are Christians and disciples - that is a fact.
- Our God is a missionary God.
- The way from God to a human is trough a human heart
- A true Christian is one who makes you think of Jesus
- People will not care what you know - until they know you care
- Pray and ask God to bring out that rough diamond that is hidden deep down
Johan and Esther Lourens, another established and anointed missionary, shared with us how they are leading missions works in South Africa, Mozambique and Malawi. They are busy planning a mission outreach in Botswana.
Stof Stof, that works closely with Johan and Esther, shared his experiences with us and about the reality of mission work.
Other Missionaries in FCCA-Int is:
Amanda van Saassen in Malawi. Unfortunately Amanda could not join us for the conference due to commitments in Malawi. Amanda has been working in Malawi since 1997 and has trained numerous missionaries and established a powerful work there.
André van Eeden, a missionary working in Garankuwa and Soshanguve that is making a tremendous impact on peoples lives.
Anton and Zelda Mostert are making trips annual to Lesotho to minister to a group of people there. There daughter, Althea, is changing the lives of the youth. They invite people to join them on their next trip during January 2011.
The aim of these outreaches is to support the full-time work in the mission field and at the same time give home-base Christians the opportunity to minister cross-culturally.
If you are ready for a "hands-on" missionary experience, it is time to join us on this 1-10 days short term outreach to the people in need in the mountain kingdom of Lesotho [Friday 10 December tot Sunday 19 December 2010]
It is a time for the Church in Africa to return to a ministry of prayer and tears, a time to hunger and thirst after God - His purity in our lives, His power upon our ministries, His presence in our gatherings, His Calvary love in our relationships, and His Pentecostal winds and blazing fire throughout our beloved continent.
