Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In order for us to be holy and without blame before the Father He, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. God the Father took the first step in order for us to be able to be holy:
He blessed us with all spiritual blessings
Our spiritual blessings are in heavenly places in Christ
God the Father has chosen us before the foundation of the world
He has chosen us that we should be holy and without blame before Him
He chose us to be blessed in love
He predestined us to be adopted as children by Jesus Christ unto himself
It was His good will that we be chosen and adopted
We were to be holy for the praise of the glory of his grace
It is the praise of His glory that He made us accepted in the beloved.
As we look at this we realise that all of the above: Our spiritual blessings, our position in heavenly places, the fact that we are blessed in love, our adoption as children and the fact that we are accepted in love is all because His good will. It was the Father's choice to do that so we could never say that we earned our holiness because of our own works or because we are so good. Our holiness was for the praise of the glory of His grace.
Ephesians 2:4-9But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
We only have to receive it from our Father; He has already done everything.
