PIERRE VIGOUREUX

Pierre Vigoureux was born on 26 April 1972 in Brakpan.

He sang solo in the pre-school concert when he was 5 years old. In 5th grade, he started with formal singing lessons of which he enjoyed every moment.  Although he grew up in a Christian home, church and Sunday school was more a punishment than fun.

In 9th grade, he made a commitment to the Lord at a church youth camp.
He gets many opportunities to sing in churches as well as at other occasions. He sings mainly gospel. Still, sometimes he experiences a great gap in his being.

In 1990, he attends a camp for men and here he makes a new commitment for the Lord.  The desire to use his talent for the Lord grows stronger.  In 1991, he does military service and gets selected for the David singing group. The group travels throughout the country and does performances in military uniform at churches, schools, elderly homes as well as at military functions.   It was a great privilege and gift from the Lord.
Although he has a good job, he develops a strong desire to be part of the SAPS.

His parents, family and even friends object to this and try to dissuade him from joining the SAPS.  Though, in January 1993, he reports at the SAPS College in Pretoria.   To him it was a dream come true.   Soon his colleagues discover his love for singing and music and he joins the military band where he is the base drummer.

After his college training, he gets placed out at Benoni Police Station.   Here he gets aware of the enormous need amongst colleagues and friends.  The work is dangerous; the tension often unbearable and even at home there is no relief. His desire to introduce the Lord to people grows stronger daily but he does not know how to go about.
In 1998 he gets introduced to the SAPS Service Year for Christ and to him it is a door which is opened.  Immediately he applies to be part of the team for a year.
He gets selected and his Station Commander also approves.

In 1999, as part of the Service Year for Christ team, he once again travels throughout the country where he sings and carries out the Lord of the Lord.  He realizes that God makes dreams come true.

The dream to record a solo CD grows daily.
After his Service Year for Christ year, he is offered a post at SAPS Spiritual Services in Pretoria where he is still employed. Here he gets many opportunities to minister through song. The desire for a CD keeps on growing.

The Lord talks to him about 1 Peter 1:16 (Be holy as I am holy).    He gets convinced that Holiness must be the title of his first CD. After consideration, he decides that the CD must be English as it is the official language of SAPS. There are also two Zulu songs on the CD especially for his African colleagues who serve the Lord whole heartedly.

Soon he gets the desire for another CD, but leaves it in the hands of the Lord ho can make dreams come true.

In 2002 he records an Afrikaans CD with the title "Yadah".
In 2003 he records a duet with Sonja Celliers with the title "Tetelestai". They get chosen as finalists for the 'ATKV Lier' award.
The dream for a fourth CD is left in the hands of the Lord who can make dreams come true
